September is Suicide Awareness Month. On Saturday September 13 at 9am we will have a special Mass to remember, heal from, and commend to God those who have taken their own life. Under the patronage of Our Lady of Lourdes, we will implore the intercession of the Mother of God to intercede on our behalf for our loved one who has died. We will pray for each one by name during the Mass. If you would like to have your loved one remembered please submit the name by 12 noon on Friday September 12 to Chaplain Debbie at dgeorge@saintalbert.org.

Good news! We now have three priests at many of our confession times. A third confessional has been set up on the left side of the reservation chapel behind the altar. A confessional candle is on a table near the door to indicate when the priest is in the confessional hearing confessions. Sit in the front pew of the section nearest the door to the reservation chapel to wait for confession at this new confessional. A sign identifying the priest and the languages in which he can hear confessions is located on the door of each confessional.

Let’s Get To Know Fr. Michael Rhodes!
Fr. Michael Rhodes is our new parochial vicar who just joined St. Albert the Great. We asked him some questions to get to know him. If you haven’t met him yet, please welcome him after Mass!
Where were you born, and where did you grow up?
* I was born and raised in Fort Worth and moved to College Station in 2005 where I worked managing restaurants and real estate until I entered seminary in 2019.
When and where did you get ordained?
* I was ordained on Jun 14, 2025 for the Diocese of Austin at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Who is your favorite saint and why?
* St. Augustine is my favorite saint because he shows us an example of a man who was tied up in worldly desires who became a great saint because he found truth in God and came to know that our heart is restless until it rests in God. His mother, St. Monica, also fervently prayed for her son and I know that my mother always prayed for me.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
* I enjoy tinkering with things and was in my high school robotics club. I like working on cars and am a Ham Radio operator. I also love to cook.
What is one thing that people might be surprised to learn about you?
* I built a giant venus fly trap puppet that could “eat” people for our seminary play last year.
What is your favorite food?
* Texas BBQ
What is your impression of Austin if you are new here?
* I think it’s great because there is so much to do so close, and the food scene is awesome!
Any message for the parishioners at St. Albert the Great?
* Your hospitality is out of this world! Thank you so much for welcoming me into your parish family and my encouragement to you to remain rooted in Christ through prayer each day because he is our strength and our hope!
