The Blaze - Spark's Monthly Newsletter
I am so excited to present the NEW Middle School Newsletter: The Blaze! I will send this out via email at the beginning of each month, and I will also have hard copies available at each Spark gathering.
The Blaze is designed to be printed and folded in half, like a mini newspaper, so the digital copy reads as the front & back covers on one side, and the inside content on the other. I've created it to be interactive, and I am excited to see how our middle school students enjoy it!
If you are not on the email list, or didn't receive an email of this month's newsletter, please send me an email so I can add you to my list! [email protected]

Middle School Sacramental Classes
Our Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, Sacramental Classes will only be offered on Wednesdays. Sacramental Classes will NOT be offered on Sundays. Sacramental Classes Wednesdays, 6:15-7:30pm Palermo Center
First Communion Our First Communion (HC) program is a two-year program, with students receiving their First Communion (and First Confession) in the Second Year of their formation. We offer First Year classes for grades 6-7. We offer Second Year classes for grades 6-8. Students in Grade 8 will not be able to complete their two years prior to beginning formation for Confirmation (also two years, beginning in 9th grade), so they will complete their formation for both Sacraments concurrently (at the same time) beginning in 9th grade.
Baptism Once a child has reached the age of reason (7 years old), we cannot separate the Sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist). Because of this, middle school students seeking the Sacrament of Baptism will enter formation to receive all three Sacraments of Christian Initiation at Easter Vigil. This is commonly referred to as OCIC (Order of Christian Initiation for Children). We require two FULL years of formation to properly prepare children to receive all three Sacraments of Christian Initiation. Since Easter Vigil happens part-way through a school year, the two full years of formation must be completed prior to the school year that the student will be received into the Church at Easter Vigil. In other words, students will complete two FULL years of formation and receive their Sacraments part way through the THIRD year.
Confirmation Our Confirmation program is a two-year program that begins in 9th grade. See our Confirmation page for more details.
